What is BURN + ITCH SOOTHING BALM, and how does it work?

This deeply hydrating, cooling balm is formulated to bring immediate and lasting relief to skin affected by heat, sun, or radiation burns. It also works quickly to calm the itchiness caused by dry skin or eczema. Formulated with a unique combination of clinically tested ingredients, it provides both rapid and long-term soothing effects, helping your skin feel comforted and supported throughout the healing process.

Who can use the BURN + ITCH SOOTHING BALM?

The soothing balm is suitable for all skin types and ages except newborn babies as the product contains small amounts of essential oil (chamomile).

How do I use the BURN + ITCH SOOTHING BALM?

Apply gently to skin after a burn, treatment, or at the first sign of redness. Reapply every few hours until discomfort subsides. Using the balm for a few days post-burns helps reduce peeling and scarring.
For extra cooling, store in the refrigerator temporarily.
Do not use on open wounds or broken skin (in case of skin that has been scratched due to itch).

How long will it take to see results?

Burns and sunburns: The formula is designed to provide instant cooling feeling, however how well it helps soothe skin discomfort will depend on how quickly after the burn the product can be applied. The earlier the better as it can help prevent the escalation of the inflammation cascade.
In case of sunburn, we recommend to apply the balm every 3 to 4 of hours initially, then once a day for a couple of days as even after the redness and skin sensitivity has reduced, the balm will work in helping repair skin defenses and skin barrier and hydration for a faster return to healthy state.

Eczema and itchy skin: itch is a very personal sensation; efficacy will vary from individual to individual.

How much do I need to use apply?

The soothing balm is soft and smooth and spreads well over skin to limit rubbing action on sensitive skin, therefore it is very economical. Two pumps worth is generally enough for the face area.

How long does the bottle last/how many months does it last?

Since our serum is designed to be used in varying frequencies and on different sized areas of concern, there is not a set answer to this. It will be unique to how your individual needs guide its amount and frequency of application.

How many times a day can you apply it?

You can apply the balm 1-2 times a day or as often as required depending on your needs.

Can I use it with other products?

This formula is designed to be used on its own, especially if used for burns.
In the case of eczema, some people may find it beneficial to apply a heavy moisturiser on top of the soothing balm for extra skin hydration. If that is the case, we recommend to wait for 30min between layers to prevent pilling as our soothing balm is formulated to provide a soothing protection layer on its own.

Can I use it if I am pregnant or postpartum?

While the serum contains ingredients that are considered safe to be used during pregnancy, it does contain a small % of chamomile essential oil.
We recommend you check with your health practitioner if in doubt.

Can the Balm be applied to the scalp?

Yes, the balm is suitable for skin and scalp if you have itchy eczema patches on the scalp. Start with a small amount only as the balm may leave residue on the hair.

Do you wash it out or leave it in?

The balm is designed to be leave-in. However, if you wish to reapply several times in a short period, you may gently wipe the skin clean before reapplying to ensure better penetration of the actives into the skin.

Is there oil in the balm?

Yes, we have formulated the balm with a low amount of deeply hydrating oils such as apricot and jojoba to repair the skin barrier disrupted by the inflammation caused by burns or sunburns or by eczema, which increases water evaporation from the skin. However, the balm is very easily absorbed into the skin and will not leave an oil residue.

What happens to your skin when you get a sunburn and how does the soothing balm help?

A sunburn is a burn caused by radiation from the sun (UV radiation). UV radiation penetrates the skin and react with some components of the epidermis and dermis (proteins, lipids and DNA). The damage and destruction triggers inflammation reactions, which is how the skin removes the damage and repairs itself. The inflammation is visible through increased blood flow to the area causing redness, heat sensation, pain and swelling as the lymphatic system sends fluid into that area to try and repair the damage. Inflammation also disrupts the skin barrier and increases water evaporation, further worsening the skin’s ability to calm down.

Whilst there is no cure to a sunburn but time as the skin is naturally designed to heal, suitable external treatment can significant reduce the symptoms and discomfort:

If skin is designed to heal itself after a burn or sunburn, why do I need to use the Burn + Itch Soothing Balm?

If left alone, burnt or sunburnt skin will eventually return to normal, with redness and pain receding. However, using the Burn + Itch Soothing Balm may help reduce these symptoms and accelerate the process of the skin healing itself.

Does the Burn + Itch Soothing Balm provide sun protection, can it reduce sunburn if I apply before exposure?

No, the soothing balm doesn’t provide any sun protection and is not designed to replace sunscreen or suitable physical sun protection.

Does BURN + ITCH SOOTHING BALM help with psoriasis?

Our BURN + ITCH SOOTHING BALM is formulated with extracts that exhibit anti-inflammatory properties, which may help soothe the feeling of itch or skin sensitivity. It also contains high levels of humectants to deeply hydrate the skin, which could assist in alleviating some symptoms associated with psoriasis. However, as psoriasis is a genetic condition, the balm is not designed to treat or resolve it, it can only help manage some of the symptoms

The balm is designed to help manage symptoms of discomfort during flare-up episodes of itch caused by eczema or burn and sunburn. Stop using once symptoms improve. Acute episodes of eczema and psoriasis may require medical attention and stronger treatment such as corticoid creams and ointments, consult with your health practitioner to ensure you are using the most appropriate products for your condition.
